Dear Yale Neuroscience Community,

We are excited to announce three funding opportunities from the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience (full description attached).

Kavli Postdoctoral Award for Collaborative Excellence
The Kavli Institute for Neuroscience at the Yale School of Medicine is committed to fostering and supporting an inclusive neuroscience research community. Diversity is vital to achieving excellence and innovation in scientific research. The Kavli Postdoctoral Award for Collaborative Excellence seeks to support exceptional scholars who bring a diversity of perspectives and experiences to academic research. This Award will support up to two years of mentored research in the neurosciences at Yale University, including salary, benefits, and a research allowance. Awardees will join a nurturing community that promotes scientific excellence through mentorship, training, and professional development. The Kavli Institute supports all areas of neuroscience at Yale, from molecular, cellular, systems, computational, developmental, translational, and human neuroscience, with a special emphasis on cortical development, cortical function, visual science, cellular neurobiology, neurodegeneration, and repair.

Kavli Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026
We encourage applications that cross the boundaries of more than one field to address important questions in neuroscience: for example, outstanding projects that bring together individuals working in different scientific areas, or those that apply technologies developed in other disciplines such as physics, chemistry, computer science, or engineering.

Application Instructions: Please submit all application materials to https://apply.interfolio.com/175206 by March 1, 2026. Funding can begin as early as May 2026.

Kavli Innovative Teams Award 2026
We seek to support the creation of innovative teams that tackle established questions with the goal of seeding future large-scale program grant applications. Many major questions in neuroscience can be solved only by assembling teams of skilled researchers using multiple established techniques to achieve progress where no one laboratory can succeed alone. By seeding innovative project team creation, initial support from Kavli has the potential to lead to long-term support from extramural sources. The application should explain why a combination of techniques by a diverse team is necessary to advance understanding of a high-impact neuroscience issue, and has the potential to generate future long-term extramural support. Proposals should delineate both the short-term goals for the team to be funded by the grant and the long-term objectives that the team will address once established. Identifying potential long-term funding sources will be considered a positive review factor.
