Dear All:
We are excited to announce the Yale AI Workshop on: Toward AI with Human-Level Efficiency, which will be held at the end of this month, April 29-30, at 100 College Street Workshop area (11th floor). The workshop, hosted by Ilker Yildirim, is part of the Philosophical and Computational Foundations of Cognition (PCC) initiative and is sponsored by the Yale AI Initiative and the Wu Tsai Institute.
Despite much progress in machine learning and AI, uncovering the computational architecture of human cognition and replicating it in machines remains a grand scientific and engineering challenge of our time. A central component of this challenge is the “efficiency gap” — the often orders-of-magnitude difference between the efficiency of human intelligence and that of mainstream AI systems in what humans learn, perceive, plan, and reason, given the same amount of data, sensing capability, and computing energy.
This workshop brings together world experts in the computational modeling of human cognition, along with AI/ML and robotics researchers whose work connects to cognitive science, to share their research and explore the implications of their research for closing this efficiency gap. We provide a draft schedule below.
Please RSVP by April 22nd. (Attendees with an RSVP will be provided a boxed lunch each day, capped at the first 100 RSVPs.) Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSesrA_xXcR33xwkqPA4HzYVYhGDyiLKXxebz2PSwjUi3_6XtQ/viewform?usp=publish-editor
We hope you can join us! Direct any questions to Ilker Yildirim (ilker.yildirim at yale.edu<mailto:ilker.yildirim at yale.edu>).
