There is an exciting opportunity for recent PhDs across many areas of theory, but with a deadline very soon.

These positions are sponsored by the Secunda Family and Simons Foundations.

The CUNY Graduate Center is searching for three postdoctoral fellows who would be based at the Initiative for the Theoretical Sciences<https://www.gc.cuny.edu/initiative-theoretical-sciences>.  For more than 15 years, ITS has been a lively gathering place for theorists from around the CUNY system, across the New York metropolitan area, and beyond. While our resident population has been small, we have hosted a number of very successful postdocs working on problems ranging from quantum Hall effect to the statistical physics of neural networks and networks of neurons and from random matrix theory to foundational questions in machine learning.  The high flux of visitors and central location in Manhattan creates unique opportunities for collaboration.

We are looking for exciting candidates who can make the most of this opportunity.  We view it as our responsibility to provide effective mentorship independent of the precise topics chosen by our fellows.

That said, two of the three positions are intended for researchers who will be able to leverage Empire AI compute resources immediately. Interested candidates should include their proposals for utilizing Empire AI resources (see dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3708035.3736070<http://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3708035.3736070>) with their research statements.

We hope to start reviewing applications as soon as February 20 with campus visits for shortlisted candidates occurring around March 12.

Candidates should send one pdf including their CV (ideally with Google scholar link) and research statement (up to 3 pages).  They should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address.  It would help if all emails have the candidate name in the subject line.
