Dear Giovanna,

We are pleased to announce a funding opportunity from The Kavli Foundation: Science and Society Sparks<https://kavlifoundation.smapply.org/prog/Sparks2026/>. The foundation is now accepting applications for funding to support researchers’ time to participate in a program to explore and discuss the complex relationship between science and society. A limited number of awards will provide $7,500 for participation in a modest virtual program this fall. Some of these funds can be used to support participation in a disciplinary society meeting or certain other activities.

Kavli Institute members, as well as members of their labs, are eligible to submit a proposal for this new funding opportunity. Graduate students and postdocs are eligible and must include a letter of support from their PI submitted with the application.

Brief applications are due August 10th, 2026.
