Please join us for a poetry reading by William Heyen tomorrow, Wednesday,
October 13, 4 pm, at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, 121
Wall Street. A reception will follow; this event is free and open to the

William Heyen is the author of more than fifteen books of poetry including
Depth of Field (1970), The Swastika Poems (1977), Long Island Light: Poems
and a Memoir (1979), Lord Dragonfly (1981), Pterodactyl Rose: Poems on
Ecology (1991), Ribbons: The Gulf War (1991), The Host: Selected Poems
1965-1990 (1994), Crazy Horse in Stillness (1996), winner of 1997's Small
Press Book Award for Poetry, and Shoah Train (2003). He has also written
several books of prose, including: a memoir, With Me Far Away (1994); a
novel, Vic Holyfield and the Class of 1957 (1986); and Pig Notes & Dumb
Music: Prose on Poetry. Heyen is the editor of The Generation of 2000:
Contemporary American Poets (1984) and September 11, 2001: American Writers
Respond (2002). He has been awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in
Poetry, the Eunice Tietjens Memorial Prize from Poetry magazine, the Witter
Bynner Prize for Poetry from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and
Letters, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.
