[Yale-readings] James Merrill: A Celebration February 7 , 4pm

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the poet's death, "James
Merrill: A Celebration" will be held at Yale University on February 7th.
This extraordinary symposium will feature several distinguished speakers.
One panel will discuss Merrill's life and legacy. Appearing will be Langdon
Hammer, professor at Yale and Merrill's official biographer; Alice Quinn,
poetry editor of The New Yorker and director of The Poetry Society of
America; and Stephen Yenser, professor of English and creative writing at
UCLA and one of Merrill's literary executors. Following their presentation,
there will be a reading of Merrill poems. Three distinguished poets will be
reading: Frank Bidart, John Hollander, and Robin Magowan. The event begins
at 4 pm on Monday, February 7th, and takes place in Room 211, Hall of
Graduate Studies, 320 York Street, New Haven, Connecticut. The event is
free and open to the public. James Merrill (1926-1995), Connecticut's first
poet laureate, lived for forty years in Stonington, and was one of the
nation's most renowned poets. He won the Pulitzer Prize two National Book
Awards, the Bollingen Prize, and many other honors. For more information
