Summer Session Creative Writing Presents

GEORGE SAUNDERS
Reading from his work

Tuesday June 16 7 PM
Room 101 Linsly-Chittenden Hall 63 High Street

George Saunders is one of the young writers remaking the American short story. Not Minimal, not Maximal, not Modernist, not Post- or Post-Post-Modernist, a Saunders story is an Anything Can Happen Day: ghosts, video games that eat your memory, afterlives of mild regret, murderous fun-fair wave machines, cows with windows in their stomachs.

Saunders is a recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, author of the collections CivilWarLand in Bad Decline, Pastoralia and In Persuasion Nation, the children's book The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip, and the novella The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil. He teaches Creative Writing at Syracuse University.
