The University of Hartford's Cardin Reading Series: EDWARD HIRSCH

Wilde Auditorium, University of Hartford, Poetry Reading followed by Q & A and Book Signing

Edward Hirsch is the author of eight books of poetry, including The Living Fire: New and Selected Poems (2010), and the national bestseller How to Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry.  He is a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, fellow of the Guggenheim and MacArthur foundations, and the National Endowment for the Arts, recipient of an Ingram Merrill Foundation Award, the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome, an Academy of Arts and Letters Award, and a Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Writers' Award.  He is currently President of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. This event is Free and Open to the Public. A reading by Dennis Barone (West Hartford's second poet laureate) and James Finnegan (West Hartford's third and current poet laureate) hosted by Maria Sassi (West Hartford's first poet laureate).  Barone and Finnegan recently co-edited the anthology Visiting Wallace: Poems Inspired by the Life and Work of Wallace Stevens.
