The Graduate Poets Reading Series commences its 2014-2015 season with one for the record books. The sensational CAConrad<http://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poet/caconrad> will be joining us this coming Monday, September 22, at 7:00pm in Linsly-Chittenden Hall, Room 319 (63 High St., New Haven), reading with the English department's very own Stephen Krewson. It promises to be an evening of spellbinding verse and rabble-rousing calls to fabulously transgressive action, as we enjoy the work of a poet whom Eileen Myles hails as the Blake of the 21st century!
CAConrad’s PACE The Nation Project is touring the U.S. to ask poets how to repair our war-obsessed nation. He is the author of seven books including ECODEVIANCE: (Soma)tics for the Future Wilderness (Wave Books, 2014), A BEAUTIFUL MARSUPIAL AFTERNOON (Wave Books, 2012) and The Book of Frank (Wave Books, 2010). A 2014 Lannan Fellow, a 2013 MacDowell Fellow, and a 2011 Pew Fellow, he also conducts workshops on (Soma)tic poetry and Ecopoetics. Visit him online at http://CAConrad.blogspot.com/<http://caconrad.blogspot.com/>
Stephen Krewson is a Ph.D. student working on American literature and culture at Yale in the English Department. A Mellon interdisciplinary fellow last year, he also likes to experiment with and engineer language through courses in Computer Science. His recent poetry uses natural language processing techniques and workflows from electronic music production. He is from Schenectady, NY, and studied creative writing at Penn.
We will have copies of The Book of Frank, A BEAUTIFUL MARSUPIAL AFTERNOON, and ECODEVIANCE available for purchase at the reading (cash/check only).
Our next reading will take place early next month, when Rob Halpern joins us on October 9.
