Alfred Corn’s eleventh book of poems, titled Unions, appeared in April 2014. He has published a novel, titled Part of His Story; two collections of essays; and a study of prosody. Prizes for his work as a poet include the Guggenheim fellowship, the NEA, an Award in Literature from the Academy of Arts and Letters, and one from the Academy of American Poets. He has taught creative writing at Yale, Columbia, and UCLA. In 2011 Pentameters Theatre in London staged his play Lowell’s Bedlam, and in 2013 he was made a Life Fellow of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, where he worked on a translation of Rilke’s Duino Elegies. This past November, Eyewear published his second novel, titled Miranda’s Book.
Leslie McGrath is a poet and literary interviewer. She is the author of Opulent Hunger, Opulent Rage, a poetry collection, and two chapbooks, Toward Anguish, and By the Windpipe. McGrath's latest book is a satiric novella in verse, Out From the Pleiades, about a girl who becomes a bully. She teaches creative writing and literature at Central Connecticut State University and is series editor of The Tenth Gate, a poetry imprint of The Word Works press in Washington, DC.
On the third Thursday of each month, The Pi Poetry Series celebrates an eclectic mix of poetic voices. Free. Refreshments. (and even more, if you bring some to share) Open mic. Outstanding featured readers. In a casual setting. Open to all members of the public (and even others).
