Dear friends and colleagues:

We look forward to seeing you at our next Yale Graduate Poets Reading Series event: Thursday, March 8 at 5:30 pm in Linsly-Chittenden Hall, Room 211, acclaimed poet and cultural critic Wayne Koestenbaum will be reading from his new collection Camp Marmalade, out this month from Nighboat Books. Brandon Menke, Ph.D. candidate in English, will serve as his opening act.

Wayne Koestenbaum has published nineteen books of poetry, criticism, and fiction, including Notes on Glaze, The Pink Trance Notebooks, My 1980s & Other Essays, Hotel Theory, Best-Selling Jewish Porn Films, Andy Warhol, Humiliation, Jackie Under My Skin, and The Queen’s Throat (a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist).  His newest book of poetry, Camp Marmalade, will be published in March 2018.  He has had solo exhibitions of his paintings at White Columns (New York), 356 Mission (L.A.), and the University of Kentucky Art Museum.  His first piano/vocal record, Lounge Act, was issued by Ugly Duckling Presse Records in 2017;  he has given musical performances at  The Kitchen, REDCAT, Centre Pompidou, The Walker Art Center, and the Renaissance Society.  He is a Distinguished Professor of English, Comparative Literature, and French at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.

Brandon Menke is a poet and Ph.D. candidate in English at Yale University. He received his MFA in Creative Writing from New York University. His dissertation examines queer identities, lyric form, and regionalist aesthetics in 20th-century American literature and visual art. In addition to co-organizing the Graduate Poets Reading Series, he serves as the editor-in-chief and poetry editor of Palimpsest: Yale Graduate Literary and Arts Magazine, co-convenes the 20th- and 21st-Century Studies Colloquium, and has served as a Guest Critic in the Yale School of Art. Currently, he is at work on a book project with artists Kyle Goldbach and Martin Bek.

We’ll have copies of Camp Marmalade available for purchase at the reading.
