Darryl Pinckney, a titan of the New York literary world, is the author of two novels, High Cotton, and Black Deutschland, and several works of nonfiction, including Out There: Mavericks of Black Literature, Blackballed: The Black Vote and US Democracy, and Come Back in September: A Literary Education on West Sixty-Seventh Street.
