Chao Gao is back by popular demand!  This week in the YPNG seminar
he will present:

Title: Network analysis: Community Detection and Graphon Estimation

Abstract: Two important statistical problems arise in the field of network
analysis. While community detection is crucial to understand the clustering
structure of a network, graphon estimation leads us to understand the
underlying data-generating mechanism of a network. In this talk, I will
first discuss minimax rates and polynomial-time algorithms in the two
problems. Then, I will give a general picture to understand network models
from a unified perspective that includes both stochastic block model and
sparse linear regression as special cases.
