[yul-naco] Fwd: [Yulcat-l] Library of Congress files frozen during their migration to unicode

Dear NACO catalogers,

I'm sure you all saw the message (below) that Joan forwarded to yulcat-l. I
just wanted to re-emphasize here that any NACO records we create during the
10/28 (post 4pm)-11/10 period will not get distributed by LC until after
their migration to Unicode is complete. I am assuming that we will still be
able to "produce" NACO records in RLIN, but that these records will remain
in the "pending" phase until LC resumes normal record distribution. If I
hear anything different from RLG, I'll let you know.

As far as MARS processing goes, this freezing of the LC-NACO authority file
should not affect us too much. Because we are working through the backlog
of bib records that need to get sent to MARS, bib records marked for export
in the next week or two using ExportQ will probably not actually get sent
to MARS until after the LC migration is complete (and record distribution
has resumed). By then, MARS should be able to match those bib records
against our NACO records (and send us the matching NACO records).

You may continue to forward any BFM notifications or duplicate record
deletion requests to me. I'll hold them until LC is ready for them.
