I'm sure you all saw Patricia's message that OCLC
Connexion 1.7 is now available for download.
After you've completed your download, you might
want to check out one new feature in 1.7 that
pertains especially to authority records:
AUTHORITY HISTORY RECORDS
This feature is similar to the functionality we
had in RLIN - it allows you to see previous
versions of authority records, which can
sometimes be useful when troubleshooting problems. To do this:
1. Display a current authority record
2. Issue the menu command: Authorities>Show>LC Superseded Versions
3. You will get a list in chronological order
(oldest on the bottom) of all the previous versions of that record
4. Each "Authority History Record" in the list
will have an "Authority History Timestamp"
(abbreviated AHTS in the list and shortened to
"Timestamp" in the record itself). An explanation
of the elements that make up this timestamp is here:
http://www.oclc.org/support/documentation/connexion/client/authorities/searchauth/#auth_history_timestamp
You can also search and browse Authority History
Records directly, using these menu commands:
Authorities>Search>LC Names and Subjects History
Authorities>Browse>LC Names and Subjects History
I'll forward separately a longer message that
OCLC's Becky Dean sent about authority history records.
The NACO Coordinating Committee did not have time
to test Connexion 1.7, so if you have any
problems creating/updating NACO records with the
new software, please do let me know!

>We now have access to the latest version of the
>OCLC Connexion Client! Please feel welcome to
>download "OCLC Connexion 1.7" from PC Amigo, or
>ask your local expert user. The older version of
>the client will be discontinued 1 April; and the
>newer version has some very nice features. The
>toolbar has been redesigned a bit. My favorite
>new feature in Connexion 1.7 is being able to do
>ISBN searches in the new search box that appears
>at the top left of the client window.

>Mark your calendars! We will be offering two,
>identical OCLC Connexion refresher sessions
>toward the end of this month. Both will take
>place in the Lecture Hall. I will send more
>information about these sessions shortly.
