Voyager Down Time May 9*19, 2008

The Library of Congress will implement upgrades to the LC Voyager
system that will enable greater facility in data handling this month.

Unfortunately, this means that the system will be available in read
only mode from between noon on May 9 to Monday morning, May 19.

For NACO, this means that Cooperative Cataloging Team members and other
Library of Congress liaisons will neither be able to delete nor to
revise records in the authority and bibliographic files. As Library
staff are being encouraged to schedule leave during this period, I
encourage PCC members to contact their liaison about holding BFM
reporting through this period.

For SACO, this means that we will not be able to download into the LC
Voyager database new subject proposals entered through the SACO web
form, nor will we be able to input any change proposals entered through
that web form. Please hold proposals for new and revised headings until
after May 19, 2008.

The Library of Congress Office of Network Development has made
arrangements to continue receiving name authority contributions to the
LC/NACO Names Authority File throughout this period and will begin
processing those files as soon as possible after May 19th.
