FYI--catalogers who know the scripts might find this to be especially
interesting:

Precedence: list

LC's ILS Office has been testing non-Roman scripts in authorities for =
a while. In fact, some test records can be viewed in LC Authorities =
(authorities.loc.gov). The headings for these test records are listed =
below.
You can view an authority record by searching on one of these =
headings; under "Select a Link to View the Authority Record" click on the =
SECOND link (if there is more than one listed); copy the non-Roman =
reference; and then paste that form into another headings search. The =
results of such a search will give you a headings browse display with =
non-Roman script references similar to what we expect to see after the =
initial automatic pre-population of the authority file from bibliographic =
data .
These records were created to test software functionality. We have =
been working closely with CPSO as the policy specialists plan for =
expansion to non-Roman scripts in authorities, but these test records do =
NOT necessarily represent LC policy for non-roman scripts. I cannot vouch =
for the accuracy and appropriateness of the non-Roman data in these test =
records. All of them are labeled as test records. They have NOT been =
distributed to the NACO nodes as part of the daily NACO distribution. =
We've made these records available for use in testing, with the caveat =
that they are for testing only.

headings on test records:

           Akhmatova, Anna Andreevna, $d 1889-1966
           Angelake-Rouk, Katerina
           Ben-Adi, Shoshana
           Curcic, Ljubomir
           Khayyampur, Abd al-Rasul, $d 1898 or 9-1979
           Kim Il-song Chonghap Taehak
           Kurosawa, Akira, $d 1910-1998
           Kypriake Vivliotheke
           Mahfuz, Najib, $d 1911-2006
           Majma al-Lughah al-Arabiyah al-Malaki (Cairo, Egypt)
           Mao, Zedong, $d 1893-1976
           Russia. $b Ministerstvo finansov

N.b. Diacritics and special characters have been deleted from this list in =
order to facilitate distribution via email. The test records contain the =
appropriate diacritics and special characters. Some of the test records =
have notes describing the test conditions in the records.
