[yul-naco] FW: See who is cataloging in RDA, MARC Record Examples, and more!

The RDA records created by/for JSC are now organized by MARC as well as by rule number. The MARC examples look very helpful; the bib records use ISBD punctuation. There is also a set of authority records in MARC.

A couple of fields are not quite in synch with current LC PCC PS (e.g. one example uses “date of publication of not identified” with a second 264 _4 for the copyright date). But it’s nice to see authoritative examples of formats other than books, with common usage rather than the RDA carrier terms (definitely non-common usage) in 300 $a.

MARC Record Examples of RDA Cataloging

In recent weeks, though webinars, conferences and email submissions, we have been asked if there are MARC examples in the Toolkit. The simple answer is, YES! In order to facilitate RDA education and training, the Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA (JSC) issued full MARC record examples of RDA cataloging<http://ala-publishing.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0zMTgzMDAzJnA9MSZ1PTEwMjY4MTM4NDYmbGk9MTY3NDU0MjY/index.html>. You will find examples of both bibliographic and authority records. All examples include both an RDA element view and a MARC encoding view of the record.
