Dear YUL NACO contributors,
Did you ever forget where to find a NACO or an RDA instruction while doing authority work? Have you ever wondered how to interpret an instruction? Did you ever wish someone could look at one of your NACO records before you added it to NAF? Did you ever refrain from creating an authority record because it was out of your comfort zone?
Do not worry; you are not alone; we were all there. Even those of us with lots of experience creating NACO records do not know everything.
The Authority and Identity Advisory Group wants to support you in your authority work.
There are three ways to ask NACO-related questions:
1. YUL NACO Listserv<mailto:yul-naco at mailman.yale.edu>: a safe place to ask the collective wisdom for information and to help us learn together.
2. Your NACO-independent colleagues: if you want to know who they are, look at the NACO Training Chart<https://web.library.yale.edu/cataloging/authorities/naco/training> (below Current Reviewers). The "Status" column lists who is independent.
3. Ask NACO at Yale<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=u76M3Tkh-E20EU4-h6vrXD0kZsR5VVFCnxuDn82AlexUNjI5N0tXTk1PMTFFUldINUJCQVhaUk5LVi4u>: if you prefer to ask privately, your question will be sent to Wheat Meier (NACO coordinator) and Danijela Matković (A&I AG chair) and may be shared with one or more YUL NACO experts. The link to the form can be found on Cataloging at Yale<https://web.library.yale.edu/cataloging> (under Feedback) and the Beinecke Rare Book Cataloging Manual<https://rbc-cataloging-manual.beinecke.library.yale.edu/> (under Cataloging at Yale).
Please let us know if you have any suggestions for supporting the NACO community at Yale.
On behalf of the Authority and Identity Advisory Group,
Wheat (Tachtorn Meier)
NACO Coordinator
