From david.floyd at yale.edu Fri Nov 21 13:59:22 2025 From: david.floyd at yale.edu (Floyd, David) Date: Fri, 21 Nov 2025 18:59:22 +0000 Subject: [yul-naco] Updates to YUL NACO Governance and Roles Message-ID: Hi NACO Community, Since this past summer, the Authorities and Identities Advisory Group (A&I AG) has been working on revisions to how we coordinate NACO activities at Yale, while also searching for a new NACO Coordinator. In our conversations about the search, we encountered similar feedback from across Technical Services units, that the responsibilities of the NACO Coordinator, as they are defined, can place an unsustainable workload on that individual. To remedy this, we have redefined the role to focus on communications between Yale and the PCC about NACO operations, monitoring the NACO and PCCLIST listservs, and attending the A&I AG meetings to report on NACO activities. This role is supported by the NACO Statistics Reporter, who is responsible for collecting and reporting YUL and Law NACO statistics, except for those contributed to funnel projects. The advisory group has also increased its involvement with NACO to balance this change in responsibilities, taking a more active role in coordinating trainings and pairing reviewers and reviewees. These changes were approved by the Metadata Steering Committee in September. All of this is to say, I am delighted to share that in October, Brenna Bychowski accepted the role of NACO Contact, and that Hannelore Seeger will be continuing in her capacity as NACO Statistics Reporter. Our documentation will be updated to reflect these changes in Yale Library Metadata - Authority and Identity Management in the coming weeks, and I will also present this information in more detail at the upcoming Metadata Forum.
