Hello,

I hope folks have had a chance to connect to the sites we set up to share the project plan and other documentation and communication efforts. Please let me know if you have any difficulty accessing anything, or if you have questions about what material is available for the sake of transparency in this effort.

What Happened Today:

* Morning work group meeting (MC, RF, MW)

* Work on the AS index rebuild continued. We noted no errors being reported and as of this morning, all repos except BRBL and MSSA were finished.(SD, MW)

* 2+ hours of related meetings to work through the project plan and other updates, and with Percona, a Professional Services group that specializes in MySQL and database expertise. They will send a sample report of their typical analysis on Monday and a proposed Statement of Work (SoW), so we can evaluate the approach they take in their work to diagnose MySQL systems problems (RF, SD, BR, MW)

* Started/Completed work on the special edition of Archivist's Toolkit to be used as a workaround for EAD activity outside of AS (BR, MoC)

* Contacted colleagues at Southern Illinois University about their similar report of high CPU usage on AS. Important effort to start building our IT contacts in the community of AS. (MW)

* Responding to email questions about AS activity and proposed EAD alternatives (MC)

* Responding to new Service Now tickets on AS performance (MW)

* Coordinating the above steps within Enterprise Systems (MW, RF)

* Preliminary work on updating core AS system documentation and verification of consistent settings across all AS instances (dev, test, prod) (BR, MW)

* Beginning work on evaluation of AS release 1.3 (MoC)

The rebuild of a working AS index is a major task that will continue over the weekend. As it runs we will check for any repeat errors or warnings. We need a working index so more staff activity can happen in AS, and reduce the reliance on the ATK alternative and the amount of data synchronization follow up.

I hope everyone has a pleasant summer weekend.

Sincerely,
Melissa Wisner
