Hello Everyone,

I wanted to provide an update that the upgrade to TEST is still in progress. TEST ASpace is still unavailable at this time, but the upgrade is in progress. This release is an exceptional case, due to the change with container data and the required indexing. I continue to monitor the upgrade with Lyrasis. Nothing is wrong, it just is taking more time.

This involvement with testing a candidate release is an important learning opportunity for YUL. We gain insight into the release and the upgrade process long before we "do it for real" in production. So even though it is taking longer than expected, I see it as good bad news. We are learning how to refine this release and the standard practice of upgrading.

Please don't hesitate to send any questions or comments. I will keep you up to date.

Thank you,
Melissa

Subject: TEST ASpace unavailable this evening-Monday May 2

Hello,

This evening the hosted TEST instance of ArchivesSpace will be taken offline. Lyrasis will be preparing the TEST instance for an upgrade to release 1.5.

What you need to know:

* TEST will be unavailable beginning 6pm EDT through the morning of Tuesday May 3

* PROD will NOT be impacted

* Systems that integrate with PROD will NOT be affected (Aeon, location update programs)

* TEST will be refreshed from PROD, bringing data and user logins up to date in TEST

* This upgrade is to an early release of 1.5 and it will be temporary

* It is temporary because the 1.5 release is in an early stage (candidate release) so customers can test it for any problems

* YUL is particularly interested in helping to test because the 1.5 release incorporates our separate custom container management plugin into the core code. When 1.5 is in general release, YUL will no longer need the container management plugin as a separate utility.

* The testing period for all customer sites will extend until Monday May 16th.

* After that date, Lyrasis will incorporate any testing feedback that should be addressed into what will become the general release of 1.5

* YUL does not have a scheduled date to upgrade PROD to 1.5. We would still schedule a time to install a general release version of 1.5 on TEST for all staff to examine, before upgrading PROD.

If there are any questions or comments, please let YAMS know.

Thank you,
Melissa Wisner
