Hello,

This Friday afternoon at 4:45pm, I will be coordinating a preliminary automated load test/stress test on the TEST instance of the ArchivesSpace PUI. I have been working with University ITS and Lyrasis to setup an initial automated test to simulate approximately 200 users in the PUI. The test will run from 4:45pm through 5:15pm today. The schedule is determined by University ITS working hours and as late on a Friday afternoon as we could schedule it to avoid any staff inconvenience.

This is a preliminary test to see how the system performs under normal and peak usage. There is no need for any staff using TEST ArchivesSpace to stop their work. Our PROD instance is separate from our shared TEST/DEV, so there will be no disruption to that environment.

Lyrasis and I will be monitoring the TEST system via New Relic to watch resource capacity. Although our TEST instance of ArchivesSpace is less robust than PROD, this will be a helpful first step to gauge what configuration of resources our instances may need to manage typical usage once the new PUI is a production component.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Again, no one has to do or change anything as a result of the test. If TEST does go down, Lyrasis will restart within 5 minutes. On a side note, the PUI Data Group has started the data cleanup in TEST this week, but we have nothing scheduled until after this initial performance test completes this evening.

Thank you,
Melissa
