Hello Everyone,
The migration to the Amazon cloud is complete for DEV and Test and both systems appear to be in working order. If you encounter any issues, please let me know.
As a reminder, our Production instance of ArchivesSpace will be migrated to Amazon at the end of the summer.
Thank you,
Melissa

Subject: DEV and TEST ArchivesSpace moving to Amazon Cloud this weekend
Hello,
As noted in the LIT weekly email, DEV and TEST hosted instances of ArchivesSpace will be relocated to Amazon Cloud (AWS) over the weekend of July 6. These instances will continue to be hosted through Lyrasis, we are just moving from IBM Cloud to Amazon. Our hosted Production (PROD) instance will remain at IBM until later in the summer.
The decision to move from IBM to Amazon was made by Lyrasis, and we were informed of it a few weeks ago. However, AWS is a known entity across Yale campus and within the broader IT community. The Amazon environment will provide more flexibility in scaling up computing resources, should ArchivesSpace ever require them.
Staff should notice no change to these work environments in terms of access. There will be very brief downtime during the move over the weekend. Relocating DEV and TEST instances first also provides the opportunity to test the process, although Lyrasis has already successfully moved all of their other hosted customers to AWS, leaving Yale for last.
I will be available over this weekend, and will send word out to this list when the process is complete, and I confirm service is up and running for DEV and TEST. Again, nothing is scheduled for PROD at this time.
Please let me know if you have any questions. There is no need to save any work for fear of data loss, however I would recommend suspending any weekend data cleanup or synchronization work, if any is even planned in DEV or TEST.
Thank you,
Melissa Wisner
