If you aren't on the PCC list or overlooked this, the report of the Task
Group on the PCC Mission Statement has a number of provocative items
relating to the future of cataloging that are well worth a look.
It is now also a link on Cataloging at Yale/Tools and Resources in a new
section called AACR3/RDA/FRBR/Future, along with links to some of the RDA
presentations at ALA & other items on the future of cataloging:

PCC Mission Statement Report
The Policy Committee is pleased for this opportunity to share with the PCC
membership the draft Report of the Task Group on the PCC Mission Statement
now available at: http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/tgrptPCCMission.html
. This document is among the initial efforts undertaken to prepare for the
revision of the Program's Strategic Plan, beginning with the next PoCo
meeting in Nov.
The Mission statement is an essential aspect of PCC vision, and the
document sets out important assumptions about the changing environment and
projects adjustments resulting therefrom in the PCC's core activities and
roles. These are also specified in the draft Report.
The current draft takes into account input shared at the recent Operations
Meetings and also comments offered at a special meeting of the Policy
Committee held in conjunction with the recent ALA where it was given
preliminary approval. It was also presented at the Participants Meeting
and received a warm welcome. As a final stage in this process, we are
offering the report and its recommendation to individuals at our member
institutions. Please note that comments are due by July 31 and should be
sent to Carlen Ruschoff at ruschoff at umd.edu
