Issue 4 2005 of the Cataloger's Desktop is now available on the web.

What's new:

1. Big news for map catalogers--Cartographic Materials manual is now
available on the Desktop!

2. NACO Participant's Manual, 3rd ed. is now available on the Desktop! (In
HTML not PDF! --so you can use jump links to the RIs)

3. LCRI Update 2, 2005, which due to a scheduling problem did not make the
previous issue of the Desktop, is now included. No RI on 2.5C3 (colored
illustrations).

4. The Subject Cataloging Manual is now updated through August 2005.

Note also that there is an announcement about revising of SCM:Shelflisting
which will be combined with SCM: Classification; this is still in progress.

Subject: 2005 Issue 4 of Cataloger's Desktop available

Colleagues:

The 2005 Issue 4 of Cataloger's Desktop is now available on the
web. Along with a number of updates and enhancements, the new issue
incorporates "Cartographic Materials: A Manual for Interpretation for
AACR2, 2002 Revision", edited by Betsy Mangan. Additional functionality
enhancements will be appearing over the coming months.

The Issue 4 CD-ROMs will be shipped this week. Please note that this
is the final CD-ROM issue of Cataloger's Desktop. CD subscribers are urged
to convert their subscription to the web version soon so that their access
to Desktop is not interrupted when the CD expires. There will be no
extensions beyond the May 5, 2006 license expiration date.

Additional details about ordering Cataloger's Desktop can be found on
the CDS website at <www.loc.gov/cds/desktop/OrderForm.html>.
