To: All Cataloging Staff
Nov. 8, 2005

On Wed, 11/9, shortly before 1pm all staff who use Cataloging with ExportQ
should shut down ExportQ. ExportQ will be unavailable after 1pm
tomorrow. Orbis Cataloging will remain up. ExportQ will be available again
Thursday morning.

You may continue to work in the Orbis Cataloging module tomorrow afternoon,
but you should adjust your workflow so that you do not need to flag any
records for export to MARS, OCLC or RLIN. In the event that you do need to
flag a record for export, record the number manually and flag it tomorrow
when ExportQ is again available.

ILTS is bringing down ExportQ tomorrow afternoon in order to speed up the
process of reloading Orbis records extracted for authority control
processing as we work through the 90,000 record backlog. Their hope is that
this experiment will cut the ImportQ step down from 15 hours per 20,000
records to under 7.

If you have any questions contact Joan or Audrey.

Thank you,

Joan Swanekamp, Chief Catalog Librarian
Audrey Novak, IS&P
