Four new documents have been added to Cataloging at Yale/Special Formats:
1. Searching, Selecting, and Verifying Video Cataloging Copy for
Preliminary and Cataloged Records. <tips on searching for and verification
of cataloging copy>
http://www.library.yale.edu/cataloging/Orbis2Manual/videocopy.htm
2. Video: New Cataloging Fixed Fields Checklist. May be helpful for
catalogers new to video cataloging and may function as a possible resource
for acquisitions or copy cataloging. Based primarily on OCLC Bibliographic
Formats & Standards.

3. Video (DVD & Videocassette) Original Cataloging Checklist. Part 1. Since
LC does not use AACR2 to catalog moving images, LCRI guidance is not
comparable in fullness to books. Items 3 & 4 compile best practices from
OLAC, OCLC Bibliographic Formats & Standards, the handful of LCRIs that
apply to PCC video cataloging, SCM guidelines on subject access to video,
and local YUL decisions. One noteworthy YUL decision approved by CCC is to
apply the AACR2 option and use the common usage term "DVD" rather than the
AACR2 standard term "videodisc" for the smd in 300. (No attempt will be
made to change use of the term in cataloging copy.)

4. Video (DVD & Videocassette) Original Cataloging Checklist. Part 2.

I have also added a link to the media document on the Cataloging at
Yale/Special Formats page for convenience.

Also for convenience, a link to the SML policies and procedures for call
numbers assigned to videos has been added to the Special Formats page.
