ALCTS-CCS-Copy Cataloging Discussion Group (CCDG)
Navigating Rapids in Copy Cataloging Workflows captures the discussion theme
for 2006 ALA-Annual CCDG. Frequent and sudden changes in cataloging are
significantly impacting copy cataloging. Two recent announcements will be
the primary focus of the Copy Cataloging Discussion Group in New Orleans.
Judith Mansfield (with Library of Congress) will give an overview of the
Library of Congress' decision to cease to provide controlled series access
in bibliographic records and to give series statements in 490(0) fields.
Rich Greene (with OCLC) will respond to questions regarding how OCLC will
now load LC records. In addition Rich will address the ramifications of the
acquisition of RLG on the OCLC database and membership. Participants will
also have the opportunity to hear what other libraries are doing to address
these changes as well as consider the questions to pose to their library
systems vendors and authority vendors.
Join us on June 26, 2006, from 10:30am to 12:00noon, in the Morial
Convention Center, Rm. 398-399.
