Subject: [Classweb-users] Genre/form headings for moving image
materials now available in Class Web
Classification Web users:
Genre/form heading authority records that have been created at the
Library of Congress for motion pictures, television programs and
videos (MARC 21 tag 155) are now available for searching and display
in Classification Web. The initial database contains only a small
number of headings that were approved at the Cataloging Policy and
Support Office weekly editorial meeting on September 5, 2007. New
records will be added weekly, as they are approved and
distributed. The search screen for these records is accessible by
clicking the new "Genre/Form Headings" link on the Class Web Main
Menu screen. Searches that are initiated from the "LC Subject
Headings" link on the Main Menu will not retrieve genre/form
headings, and searches that are initiated from the "Genre/Form
Headings" link will not retrieve topical headings tagged 150.
Full details about the Library of Congress project to create and
apply genre/form authority records in the field of motion pictures,
television programs and videos are available on the Library's
Cataloging and Acquisitions Web site at
