OCLC makes OAIster records available through WorldCat.org to ensure long-term public access to digital resources<http://visit.oclc.org/t?r=896&c=1841296&l=30085&ctl=2B648D1:C073EF2ACA43AF340434B878D782255E5322110E03D1DAAD&>
Discrete view of OAIster database planned for 2010
The University of Michigan and OCLC have announced that they have successfully transitioned the OAIster database to OCLC to ensure continued public access to open-archive collections, and to expand the visibility of these collections to millions of information seekers through OCLC services.
OAIster records are now fully accessible through WorldCat.org, and will be included in WorldCat.org search results along with records from thousands of libraries worldwide that add their holdings to WorldCat. OCLC plans to release a freely accessible, discrete view of the OAIster records in January 2010 through a URL specific to OAIster.
“Integration of OAIster inside WorldCat.org is the result of many years of looking for a better home for OAIster, where its resources can be searched alongside other valuable, scholarly resources,” said Kat Hagedorn, OAIster/Metadata Harvesting Librarian at the University of Michigan. “I am eagerly looking forward to its increased usefulness in the world of search and discovery.”

Color can sway thinking, change actions
<http://visit.oclc.org/t?r=896&c=1841296&l=30085&ctl=2B648E9:C073EF2ACA43AF340434B878D782255E5322110E03D1DAAD&>[http://www.oclc.org/emailcontent/articles/abstracts/images/color.jpg]<http://visit.oclc.org/t?r=896&c=1841296&l=30085&ctl=2B648D2:C073EF2ACA43AF340434B878D782255E5322110E03D1DAAD&>Ever notice that orange has been in vogue the past few years as a brand color?
It’s no accident—orange was the top color in the Pantone Color Institute<http://visit.oclc.org/t?r=896&c=1841296&l=30085&ctl=2B648EA:C073EF2ACA43AF340434B878D782255E5322110E03D1DAAD&>’s 2003 forecast. Since then, “orange has gone mainstream, blanketing such unlikely products as video cameras, Kitchen Aid blenders and Ford’s new F-150 SVT Raptor,” says Fortune<http://visit.oclc.org/t?r=896&c=1841296&l=30085&ctl=2B648EB:C073EF2ACA43AF340434B878D782255E5322110E03D1DAAD&> magazine.
The Institute’s color for 2009? Mimosa yellow. The hot colors for spring and summer 2010: tomato purée, aurora (yellow with a tint of green) and turquoise.
Why is color important<http://visit.oclc.org/t?r=896&c=1841296&l=30085&ctl=2B648EC:C073EF2ACA43AF340434B878D782255E5322110E03D1DAAD&>? As much as 90 percent of a person’s assessment of a product is based on color alone, according to the Institute for Color Research. The impact of color is critical to brand marketing as well, because color increases brand recognition by up to 80 percent, according to University of Loyola, Maryland, study.
