Greetings to our LYRASIS members in New England. As the LYRASIS merger transition continues, we're interested in visiting with our members and discussing any issues or concerns you might have about what the future holds for your library and for LYRASIS. We're contacting member libraries and arranging visits now - please let me<mailto:connie.massey at lyrasis.org> know if you'd like a personal visit in upcoming weeks.

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

* This year's annual LYRASIS Collection Services Conference will focus on Spending Your Collection Services Dollars Wisely: Models for the Future. Join us for a day of fascinating presentations that will challenge your thinking and at the same time enjoy the opportunity to network with your colleagues! We are fortunate to have Rick Anderson, Associate Director for Scholarly Resources & Collections, Marriott Library, University of Utah, as our keynote speaker. Rick's ideas on librarianship and collection development have been called "radical and innovative" by Jill Emery of the University of Houston Library.

* In addition, Deborah Lenares, Manager of Acquisitions and Resource Sharing at Wellesley College will share her experiences with patron-driven acquisitions via the Wiley token program. David Banush, Associate University Librarian for Access Services at Brown University will discuss cooperative collection development and whether, after many years of efforts, this will truly be a model for the future. Laura (Straub) Irmscher, Collection Development Manager, Boston Public Library, will bring us up to date on recent changes in collection development strategies at one of largest public libraries in the United States. We look forward to seeing you at our Southborough, MA, office on Tuesday, March 16, 2010!
