Subject: [Desktop] Update on Cataloger's Desktop service interruption - April 4th

Colleagues:

This is an update about the recovery effort from the March 29th Cataloger's Desktop service interruption.  Desktop has been available and stable since late Wednesday afternoon.  We have confirmed that all subscription information is current and up-to-date, so no library has lost access to the service.

We have determined that a corrupted table has been preventing some subscribers from accessing Cataloger's Desktop, and that the data on a portion of the table is unrecoverable. We have just completed the file clean-up process.

Please check to confirm that your personal login is working. If it is not, you will need to re-create your personal login and preferences by following the instructions found in http://www.loc.gov/cds/desktop/training/2-Login.pdf .  Please remember that it is very important to use your work email address as your Cataloger's Desktop user ID.

After confirming that your personal login works, please also review your personal preferences to ensure that they are correct. If not, please click the blue cog on the rail on the left-hand side of Cataloger's Desktop to make whatever changes are needed. A "Preferences at-a-glance" online tutorial is available at http://www.loc.gov/cds/desktop/training/3-Preferences.pdf .

Please contact us OFFLIST at desktop-info at loc.gov if you have any problems accessing Cataloger's Desktop or with creating, deleting, or managing Desktop personal accounts.

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your patience and your support.

Bruce
