Subject: OCLC Research at SAA; ArchiveGrid update
Primary Sources Colleagues,
I have two brief announcements that may be of interest to you. First is that OCLC Research will be attending the upcoming (U.S) Society of American Archivists meeting in San Diego, California. We'll be attending section and roundtable meetings, as well as presenting in a variety of conference sessions, and available to answer your questions at the ArchiveGrid booth. You can view this blog posting<http://hangingtogether.org/?p=2085> for more details.
Additionally, the ArchiveGrid<http://beta.worldcat.org/archivegrid> index was last week with a fresh extract of bibliographic records from WorldCat and new or updated finding aids harvested from contributor websites. ArchiveGrid now includes nearly 1.8 million archival collection descriptions in its index (this is up from our last update, which had 1.7 million descriptions). Over 1.5 million of these are bibliographic records extracted from WorldCat, with the rest representing finding aids provided to ArchiveGrid in a mix of EAD XML, HTML, and PDF. More details on the update are available on the ArchiveGrid blog<http://beta.worldcat.org/archivegrid/blog/>.
We hope to see you at SAA, and always welcome your questions or comments on our projects!
Best,
Merrilee
