I am extremely pleased to announce that the new ALA Representative to the Joint Steering will be Kathy Glennan of the University of Maryland.  Kathy is known to CC:DA members as former liaison from the Music Library Association, former voting member, and current liaison from the Program for Cooperative Cataloging.  I trust that we have all come to value Kathy's contributions, and look forward to working with her in her new role as JSC Rep.

The appointment is effective July 1, 2013.  However, we are planning a gradual transition.  I plan to begin sharing responsibilities with her shortly.  She will begin to take the lead on some CC:DA initiatives that will not come to fruition until after Annual, while I plan to continue working after Annual on some projects (such as Task Forces on which I am serving).  We will announce details as we decide how to split up the work.

Please join me in offering Kathy our congratulations on her appointment and our support in carrying out her responsibilities.
