Subject: [alctsleaders] Volunteer for ALA and Council-Level Committees

Dear ALCTS Leaders,

Please share this message with your ALCTS communities.

Last week, I attended an orientation session for Division President-Elects. Courtney Young, ALA President-Elect, expressly asked for help in finding more volunteers for ALA-level and Council-level committees, which she will be appointing. ALA-level committees include Chapter Relations, Constitution and Bylaws, Nominating, etc. Council-level committees include Diversity, Legislation, Library Advocacy, etc. Please see the complete list here<http://www.ala.org/groups/committees/ala>.
The deadline for volunteering for an ALA or Council committee is this Friday, November 1st. (N.b., volunteer forms for ALCTS committees can be submitted at any time.)

It would be great to have strong ALCTS representation on ALA and Council committees, and I do hope you will consider volunteering.

  * Complete the volunteer form at http://www.ala.org/template.cfm?template=/cfapps/committee/volunteerform/volunteerform.cfm

  * Login with your ALA username and password.

  * From the dropdown menu, select ALA.

  * Enter your personal information. You will be asked to list relevant education and experience and to describe why you are interested in an appointment. There is a separate space to indicate anything else that might support your candidacy. You will also list any current appointments. If you have not previously held an ALA appointment, consider serving as an intern, which is a great way to jump-start your career as an ALA volunteer.

  * On the next page, select up to three committees that are of interest. Hit Submit, and you're done!

Please contact me if you have any questions at all. I look forward to seeing lots of ALCTS members serving ALA!

Thank you for your consideration.

Best,
Mary
