I'm sending this heads-up about a Windows 10 macro that conflicts with the current Macro Express macro for inserting the RDA fields into a bibliographic record (336, 337, 338 fields). The current Macro Express RDA macro hot key is Win+Alt+R. Sady, that same macro is controlled by Windows 10 for a feature related to a particular brand of computer games. So when your computer is upgraded to Windows 10, you will need to change the RDA macro hotkey in Macro Express. I changed mine to Win+Alt+A. If you don't change the hot key, you'll get a strange message from Windows 10 about your computer game going wonky, when you try to use the "old" RDA macro hot key. Also, for some reason several of my macros with time delays needed me to tweak those time delays. If you have a macro that is not behaving properly after Windows 10 installation, check the time delays, and increase the delay a wee bit to see if that helps. It will look quite different from what you are accustomed to. One word of advice when you see the new Toolkit: [KEEP CALM AND CATALOG ON] As Paul Frank mentioned in the email below: the new Toolkit "should not be used for cataloging yet." Since the old version of the Toolkit will remain the official text of RDA for a while, your day-to-day work will not change on Thursday. The new RDA Toolkit will continue to evolve in the next months and we will have time to learn how to use it before it becomes the "official" Toolkit. Dominique From: Program for Cooperative Cataloging [mailto:PCCLIST at LISTSERV.LOC.GOV] On Behalf Of Frank, Paul Sent: Monday, June 11, 2018 4:06 PM To: PCCLIST at LISTSERV.LOC.GOV Subject: [PCCLIST] RDA Toolkit beta version and PCC cataloging [Posting this message to the PCC, BIBCO, CONSER, and SACO lists] Hi everyone, On Thursday, June 14th, the beta version of the new RDA Toolkit will be available that represents the RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign Project, also known as the 3R Project. The beta version can be accessed through a linked button in the top banner of the current RDA Toolkit. PCC members may access the Beta Site to familiarize themselves with the new structure. However, the version of RDA on the Beta Site should be viewed only as draft content. It has not been approved for use by the RDA Steering Committee and therefore should not be used for cataloging yet. For current cataloging work, PCC members should continue to use the old version of the Toolkit, which contains the official text of RDA and LC-PCC PSs; there are no changes in practice to be aware of at this time. This is a period of transition in which the Beta Site is available for viewing while its content and functionality are finalized. There are several areas in the Beta Site where there are only placeholders for instructions. There are also several areas in the Beta Site where current RDA instructions have been copied, but they will be revised before the text is approved by the RSC. New and revised LC-PCC Policy Statements will also be developed. A feedback submission form for the Beta Site is available at: http://www.rdatoolkit.org/form/3r-feedback. *****Please use this form to submit any insights, concerns, and suggestions that you have on the Beta Site. Do not submit feedback to the PCC Secretariat or the Library of Congress Policy and Standards Division (PSD).***** For more information on what to expect from the RDA Toolkit Beta Site, see the RDA Toolkit News (http://www.rdatoolkit.org/3Rproject/Beta). For more information about upcoming changes to the content of RDA, see RSC/Chair/19 (http://www.rda-rsc.org/sites/all/files/RSC-Chair-19.pdf).
