From jennifer.bazeley at yale.edu Tue Aug 2 12:10:49 2022 From: jennifer.bazeley at yale.edu (Bazeley, Jennifer) Date: Tue, 2 Aug 2022 16:10:49 +0000 Subject: [Yulcat-l] Cataloging@Yale policy update: Withdrawal Policy for Missing and Unreturned Library Materials (Item Not in Hand) Message-ID: Dear Colleagues, The Metadata Advisory Group for the ILS (MAGILS) was invited to provide feedback to the Lost and Missing Items Implementation Task Force (phase 2) on the feasibility of updating the policy on displaying bibliographic records for lost and missing library materials in the public catalog. Following the final report of the Lost and Missing Items Implementation Task Force (phase 2), CRSC and LEC approved a policy change to suppress bibliographic records for lost and missing library materials. The final report of the Task Force is attached and includes the feedback that MAGILS provided. We are writing to notify you that the policy has now been updated on the Cataloging at Yale site: Withdrawal Policies and Procedures for Missing and Unreturned Library Materials (Item Not in Hand). Please note that this policy only reflects the general policy of suppressing records for library materials that are deemed lost or missing and does not reflect department-specific workflows or procedures. Individual departments who perform this work may want to update their own workflows and procedures. Sincerely, Jennifer Bazeley and Jeanette Norris Co-Chairs, on behalf of MAGILS -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
