The American State Papers contain U.S. Congressional materials from 1789
through 1838. ASP precedes and somewhat overlaps with the U.S.
Congressional Serial Set (which began in 1817).
The American State Papers are now available online (our subscription is
through Readex) and may be accessed directly from:
http://infoweb.newsbank.com/?db=ASPA
or from the library's database description page:
http://resources.library.yale.edu/online/viewrecorddetpublic.asp?whatcaseedit=1650
Fun fact: the American State Papers were scanned by Readex with their
recently acquired Kirtas APT BookScan 1200, which can scan 1,200 pages per hour.
At this time, the online full-text ASP and Serial Set must be searched
separately, but cross-collection searching is coming soon.
In the meantime, LexisNexis Congressional indexes both ASP and the Serial
Set.
