The image database, AMICO, brought to us most recently through RLG by way
of Luna's Insight, has dissolved and much of its content (primarily images
from American art museum collections) has since been repackaged within a
few new products for which we have month-long trial subscriptions. If you
have the chance, please try a few searches in both tools. I'm very curious
to hear what people think. (ARTstor is also negotiating to include AMICO
content in its image collections but so far, we only have CAMIO and AMIG to
compare.)

The first is CAMIO
(http://resources.library.yale.edu/online/viewrecorddetpublic.asp?whatcaseedit=1664)
- a new RLG image database which:

"is a growing on-line collection documenting works of art from around the
world. Images, text and multimedia represent a broad range of works of art
from the collections of prominent museums, highlighting the creative output
of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and
covering the complete range of expressive forms....."

and includes...

"Photographs
Prints
Sculpture
Paintings
Decorative Arts and Utilitarian Objects
Drawings and Watercolors
Costume and Jewelry
Textiles
Architecture
and more ... "

The second is WilsonWeb's Art Museum Image Gallery
(http://resources.library.yale.edu/online/viewrecorddetpublic.asp?whatcaseedit=1665)
which...

"is an on-line collection of high-quality, digital documentation of works
of art from around the world. Works from major European, American, and
Canadian artists in the collections of member museums are included.
Cultures and time periods represented range from contemporary art, Native
American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along
with Japanese and Chinese works. The database includes numerous multimedia
files. Art Museum Image Gallery documents over 90,000 works of art."

If you have questions or trouble with the trial subscription, please let me
know.
