 From yesterday's DIG_REF list:

> Internet Detective, a free online tutorial designed to help students
> develop the critical thinking required for their Internet research, is
> being launched on the Web on June 13th in the RDN Virtual Training
> Suiteat: http://www.vts.intute.ac.uk/detective/

The website's front door states
"Sure, you use the Internet all the time, but you need to wise up to the
web when you use it for your university or college work.
Use this free Internet tutorial to learn to discern the good, the bad and
the ugly for your online research. "
It's a joint venture of the the <http://www.vts.rdn.ac.uk/>Intute Virtual
Training Suite , a national JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee)
service for UK universities and colleges offering over 60 free web-based
tutorials teaching Internet research skills; the
<http://www.learnhigher.ac.uk>LearnHigher Project , a partnership of 16
Universities forming a HEFCE-funded Centre for Excellence in Teaching and
Learning (CETL); with additional funding from the
<http://www.ics.heacademy.ac.uk/>HE Academy Subject Network for Information
and Computer Sciences .

It's also worthwhile to look at the RDN (Resource Discovery Network)
Virtual Training Suite < http://www.vts.rdn.ac.uk/ >, which describes
itself as:
"A set of free online tutorials designed to help students, lecturers and
researchers improve their Internet information literacy and IT skills. Work
in your own time at your own pace - no one is monitoring you! There are
quizzes and interactive exercises to lighten the learning experience. "
