REMINDER: please plan to participate next week if possible.
The Public Services Management Council is exploring the future of the Library's reader services which provide individual assistance with identifying and utilizing library collections and services. You are invited to participate in a data gathering conversation. Please self-select and attend one of the following focused discussions, most appropriate to your primary experiences:
Reference/Research Education/Personal Librarian/ Ask Live:
Monday, Nov. 30, 10:00 am in Bass L01
Access/circulation/ document delivery/ILL:
Tuesday, Dec. 1, 9:45 am in Medical Library, Conf. Rm. 101A
Information technology support and services [e.g. Student Techs, Expert Users, Help Desk]:
Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1:00 pm in Bass L01
Services involving special collections and area studies:
Thursday, Dec. 3, 2:15 pm in Haas Arts Rm. 119
I-desks:
Tuesday, Dec. 8, 9:00 am in SML 410
We will lead off the conversation with the following questions:
* Who should we provide individual assistance to? Who shouldn't we serve?
* What are some reasons to contact the library for assistance? Why do we want people to come to us? Why don't people contact us?
* What affects our ability to provide individual assistance in the next 2-3 years? 5 years?
* What does the Library do well? What should we be doing that we're not currently doing?
There is no need to rsvp this invitation, but please check with your supervisor for approval and to ensure service coverage. If you are unable to attend, but have feedback to share, please send an email to Scott Matheson before December 18, 2009. All feedback will be kept confidential and anonymous, and will be summarized for review by PSMC to help shape future service directions. Please contact either of us if you have any questions beforehand.
Thank you,
Scott Mattheson [scott.matheson at yale.edu]
