[Yulpub] RefWorks/EndNote: a way to export list of checked out books?

At the current state of ORBIS and My Account a no answer is correct. There is a user education issue perhaps, to demonstrate that prior to ordering or checking out, you may bring resources into "my list" and from there export to a text file that can be imported into a citation management program. Unfortunately, once the request record is in my account, the title is no longer hot-linked to return to a record that could be saved to my list.

Citation management tools do allow Z39.50 searching of ORBIS, so with a little work, records could be retrieved by searching from within RefWorks or Endnote.

Thanks for handling this while many of us were at the liaison workshop.

Subject: [Yulpub] RefWorks/EndNote: a way to export list of checked out books?

Hi all,
Yulpub may be too broad a list for this question, but knowing that many are at the librarians' liaison workshop today, I thought it better to cast too broad a net than too narrow. The student below is asking if there's a way to bring the list of checked-out books from Orbis (as seen in My Library Account) into RefWorks or EndNote. I don't see a way to do that - am I overlooking something?

Thanks,
Julie

Subject: Regarding Refworks/Endnote importing and bibliography generation

Hello Ms Linden,
My name is Navin Kumar and I am a Master's in International Relations student at the Jackson Institute. I understand that you are the librarian-in-charge for the International Relations/Political Science department. I am working on several papers at the moment and I was wondering if you could guide me on some technical issues pertaining to Refworks/Endnote if possible.

I understand that the Orbis system has a record of the books we have borrowed out of the library(SML,Bass, etc) online and I saw that that Orbis allows this to be imported to either Refworks or Endnote to be converted into a bibliography. I would like to create my bibliography via this method as I have quite an extensive list of books and doing this electronically would be very much more accurate and efficient than a manual approach. However, I seem to be unable to correctly import this list and my attempt to do so with either Refworks or Endnote seem to be not yielding the right result. If you could either link me to a specific tutorial link or direct me to someone who could assist me on this matter it would be very much appreciated. Alternatively, I could come see you in person early this week if you will be in the SS Library?

I look forward to your reply on this slightly urgent question.

Much thanks,

Navin Kumar
