Hello,

First of all, pardon the posting to multiple lists, in case you get more that one copy.

I'm currently experimenting with Google Custom Search Engine<http://www.google.com/coop/cse/>s (CSE), including one for Statistics & Data in the social sciences<http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=008828749505097326638:ivmlhccyqj0>, with the initial goal of using it within a LibGuides-hosted research guide. I have a question for anyone else who's created a CSE:

The search results hosting options default to "Host the result on a Google page" - which is OK, but takes the user out of LibGuides, or wherever one may have embedded the CSE search box. There's another option that sounds appealing: "Host results on your website," for which the choices are "iframe - requires two pages: one for the search box and another for the results" or "overlay - requires one page, but presents results in a modal overlay." The CSE help center topic Who hosts my Custom Search Engine results pages?<http://www.google.com/support/customsearch/bin/answer.py?answer=70330&topic=11494>" doesn't go into much detail about the local hosting options, but alludes to the necessity of technical expertise. Has anyone successfully done this displaying of results within a Yale website or LibGuides, and if so, how? Thanks,

--
