Workshop on Dragonflies and Damselflies of Lower New England

Date:  Saturday, 17 August, 2002, at UCONN

 Leaders:       Mike Thomas, and Dave Wagner

 Tentative Program:

  8:30 am        Registration, Coffee, and Donuts

  9:00 am        Welcome and Introductory Remarks

  9:15 am        The Odonata:  Basic Morphology, Biology, and Behavior

10:00 am         Lab Workshop I:  Identifying Dragonflies (Anisoptera)

12:00 n           Lunch

  1:15 pm        Lab Workshop II:  Identifying Damselflies (Zygoptera)

  2:30 pm        An Introduction to the Immatures Stages and Their
Identification

  3:00 pm        Odonate Conservation and the Odonates of Connecticut Atlas
Project

  3:30 pm        end

 Bring your unknowns:  adults, nymphs, shells, photographs, etc.

 Cost:  $25.00.  The registration fee will defray costs of distributed
literature (keys), purchase coffee and donuts, etc. (any profits will go to
the University's Center for Conservation and Biodiversity.)

 Information:  Details regarding the program, directions, etc. will be sent
to registrants.

 Please register early.  Previous workshops have filled quickly.  Phone

have specific questions regarding the workshop (but I will be away from my
