I'm almost afraid to say anything that might jinx this gorgeous weather, but I hope to see you all up at the John Flaherty Field Trial Area in East Windsor tomorrow morning at 10 AM for Lenny's field trip!

Whenever I've been there in the past, it's been an excellent trip, numerous species seen. It is possible to stay on a dirt road, though it's more fun to make your way through the tall grasses. I usually try to fall into at least one muddy ditch! If you want to go off the beaten path, you're advised to wear boots and long pants. Definitely bring sunscreen, insect repellant, water, and a snack if you plan to stay for any length of time!

I-91 to exit 44, south on Rte. 5 for 1.1 miles, left on Tromley Rd., 0.7 miles to entrance on left. Once in the area, when you come to a fork, bear left & park near the little pavilion.

See you tomorrow!
Diane

p.s. a quick scan of Haddam Meadows (still looking for monarch eggs) yielded numerous cabbage whites, one orange sulphur, one Tiger swallowtail, and one monarch.
