Lake Chamberlain Butterfly walk

On Saturday, July 2, 2011, The Connecticut Butterfly Assoc; in conjunction with the Regional Water authority, had a Butterfly walk at Lake Chamberlain in Bethany. Andy Brand from the Butterfly association, and John Triana, from the Regional Authority, led the walk.

We found the following 21 species:

Spicebush Swallowtail... 3
Cabbage White... 10
Clouded Sulphur... 4
Orange Sulphur... 15
Eastern Tailed Blue... 25+
Summer Azure... 1
Great Spangled Fritillary... 30+
Eastern Comma... 2
Anglewing sp... 1
American Lady... 2
Common Buckeye... 1
Viceroy... 1
Northern Pearly-eye... 1
Common Wood-nymph... 3
Silver-spotted Skipper... 10
Southern Cloudywing... 5
European Skipper... 5
Northern Broken Dash... 1
Little Glassywing... 50+
Delaware Skipper... 1
Hobomok Skipper... 1

Also seen, photographed and identified was a Twin-spotted Spiketail Dragonfly.
