Guidelines have been posted for  NEH’s new program for Sustaining Cultural 
Heritage  Collections in the Division of Preservation and  Access.  The 
program supports “preventive conservation  measures that mitigate deterioration 
and prolong the useful  life of collections.”  Grants are offered for 
Planning  and Evaluation (up to $40,000) and Implementation (up to  $400,000).  
The deadline for submitting applications is  December 8,  2009.  This program 
represents an  excellent opportunity for Heritage Preservation members to  
apply for funding to address preventive conservation issues  facing their 
collections.  We strongly encourage you to  read these guidelines carefully and 
submit applications that  demonstrate the compelling need for these

September 15,  2009 is the deadline for applying for  American Heritage 
Preservation Grants, a Connecting to  Collections partnership between the 
Institute  of Museum  and Library Services (IMLS) and Bank of America.  These  
grants of up to $3,000 will raise awareness and fund  preservation of 
treasures held in small museums, libraries  and archives.  IMLS will hold a 
conference call to  answer questions from interested applicants on Tuesday,  August
