[Nhcoll-l] Question regarding mollusc dry shell movements

Does anyone know of any publications that have examined how far mollusc shells might move due to various biotic and abotic factors after the animal itself has died?

I am trying to get an idea of how accurate species distributions are when based on dry shell information.

Thanks,
