CALL FOR PAPERS

41st Annual CAC Conference and Workshops

Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton

May 26-30, 2015



Hosted by the Alberta Regional Group of the Canadian Association for
Conservation of Cultural Property, the “Conserving the Past, Embracing the
Future” conference invites presentations on all aspects of conservation,
including Aboriginal people’s material culture, military and settlement
collections, industrial heritage and site restoration, fine art and outdoor
public art, archival records (traditional and digital), exhibits
conservation (technical and practical).



Two pre-conference workshops provide professional development with a focus
on technical know-how in service of conservation today. These are “3D
Scanning for Conservators,” taking place at the Northern Alberta Institute
of Technology Shell Manufacturing Centre on May 26 and 27, and
“Conservation of Audiovisual Collections,” held at the Provincial Archives
of Alberta on May 27, 2015.



The conference offers opportunity for 20-minute-long formal papers and
posters, and also an IGNITE SESSION for sharing ideas, experiences, issues
and trends that can be covered in 5-minute/20-slide talks. Emerging
conservators are particularly encouraged to present.



CONFERENCE ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION DEADLINE: January 31, 2015



Abstract submissions should include:

- Title of the presentation

- Name of the author(s)

- Contact information (Mailing address, phone and email)

- Name of the presenting author

- Abstract text between 300 and 500 words



IGNITE TALK SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 31, 2015



Ignite talk submissions should include:

- Title of the presentation

- Name of the presenter

- Contact information (Mailing address, phone and email)

- Abstract text between 50 and100 words

Possible topics for an Ignite talk include: recent trends, new tools,
treatment ideas, projects that are in progress, points and counterpoints
within the field



Abstracts are published in English and French as part of the conference
proceedings.
